IR MAN™
This hack was done in a few days. The code is sick, but it works with sony remotes. A sony CD remote will drive a CD-ROM drive like a CD player. A Sony S-VHS SLV5 remote will run the other functions. Feel free to do what you want with this. It is mucho shanky.
The hardware is made from one chip, one resistor (100K), and a 9 volt battery. The chip is from radio shack, and is an IR detector (I don't know the number, but it is a all in one decoder detector, it is in a small metal case, with 3 pins.)
Connect the plus of the 9 volt to the Vcc of the chip.
Connect the minus of the 9 volt to the gnd of the chip.
Connect the core of a RCA jack to the resistor, and the other end of the resistor to the output of the chip.
Connect the sheild to the minus of the 9 volt.
Plug the RCA jack into the little thang that Apple gives you with a sound input machine, and you are all set.
